길상사
Gilsangsa was born in 1997 when Kim Yeong-han (Buddhist name Gilsanghwa), the owner of 'Daewongak'; once Seoul's most exclusive traditional restaurant; donated the entire 33,000㎡ estate to Venerable Beopjeong. The temple carries a unique story of transformation from lavish extravagance to the spirit of 'non-possession.' Halls including Geungnakjeon, Seolbeopjeon, and Jijangjeon sit quietly amid the forests of Seongbuk-dong. In autumn, the temple becomes especially magical as red spider lilies and fall foliage bloom together; a fleeting spectacle lasting only about two weeks in October. A perfect urban retreat for a peaceful temple stroll.
