Seokpajeong is the country villa of Heungseon Daewongun (Yi Ha-eung), the powerful regent of the late Joseon Dynasty, nestled among rocks and pine trees on the slopes of Inwangsan Mountain. The sight of centuries-old giant pine trees spreading like an umbrella over the hanok rooftops is one of Seoul's most impressive scenes. Hanok buildings and pavilions built on natural rock foundations, along with stone walls and gardens, become one with the natural terrain, showcasing the essence of Joseon-era villa culture. Seokpajeong is located within the Seoul Museum of Art grounds, and admission to the museum is required to visit.
