창덕궁
Changdeokgung, built in 1405 (5th year of King Taejong) as a secondary palace to Gyeongbokgung, served as the primary royal residence for approximately 270 years after the Imjin War. Its architectural harmony with the natural landscape earned it UNESCO World Heritage status in 1997, and it remains the best-preserved of the five Joseon palaces. The Huwon (Secret Garden) is Changdeokgung's crown jewel, where pavilions like Buyongji, Juhamnu, and Yeongyeongdang blend seamlessly with nature, showcasing the essence of traditional Korean garden design. Huwon visits require advance reservation (limited daily capacity), so booking early is recommended. The 'Moonlight Tour' in spring and autumn lets visitors stroll through the palace at night while enjoying traditional performances, tickets sell out extremely fast. The contrast between the grand Injeongjeon (National Treasure) and the modest beauty of Nakseonjae offers a glimpse into both the public and private sides of Joseon royalty. ※ Access: 5-min walk from Anguk Station (Line 3) Exit 3
