Suwon's Hwaseong Haenggung Palace, lit up after dark

Hwaseong Haenggung is the largest of Korea's royal detached palaces, built for King Jeongjo, and it stays open after dark all through spring and autumn for this yearly light festival called Moonlight Flower Talk. The palace grounds fill with flower installations and light and media art, so the same courtyards you can visit by day take on a completely different mood once the sun goes down.

The main draw is a media art display with 3D hologram and laser projections set across the palace buildings. On Friday and Saturday evenings there is also a tea experience styled after Lady Hyegyeong's court refreshments, paired with a short music performance, and a palace walk led by local resident actors who play out scenes from the palace's history as they guide you. On Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, cultural heritage guides lead free tours from Sinpungnu Gate to Seojangdae command post.

The night opening runs 6pm to 9:30pm from May 1 to November 1, 2026. Entry is 2,000 won for adults, 1,500 won for teens and military personnel, and 1,000 won for children. The tea experience and resident-actor walk run Fridays and Saturdays from September 4 to October 31, 7pm to 8:30pm; the tea experience costs 50,000 won for two or 70,000 won for three and needs advance booking through Nol Ticket, while the palace walk is free but needs booking through Naver.
