Seoul International Garden Show: free walk-in gardens in Seoul Forest

The Seoul International Garden Show (서울국제정원박람회) turns Seoul Forest and Seongsu-dong into one big garden, themed "Seoul, Green Culture". At 180 days, the Seoul Media Hub calls it the longest edition yet.

Just walk in: gardens spread across the park, including the Ginkgo Forest and the Winter Forest, with activities to join along the way. Five character pop-up gardens by companies and institutions include a Kakao Friends Ryan "fairy garden" near the Winter Forest bench garden. Garden furniture is on show at nine sites, and there are 56 garden markets to browse.

In autumn, the Garden Theatre plays on Friday or Saturday evenings from 7 to 9pm on the Family Lawn, from Sep 4 to the final day. Traditional music concerts fill the K-Heritage Garden from Sep 11 to Oct 24.

The gardens need no booking; some hands-on programmes are paid. The Hangang Bus eastern route stops at the new Seoul Forest pier, 16 runs a day until Oct 30.
